What Causes Recurring Clogged Drains?
A drain that clogs again a few weeks after being cleared is telling you the underlying cause was never removed. There are four usual explanations.
Grease coating. A cable opens a channel through hardened grease and flow returns, but the layer remains and immediately begins catching debris again. This is the classic kitchen line pattern and the main reason jetting exists.
Root intrusion. Roots cut from a line regrow through the same crack or joint, often within a season. Cutting buys time; the pipe defect is the actual problem.
A belly. A sagging section holds standing water, so solids settle there every time water passes. No amount of cleaning changes the slope.
A partial collapse or offset joint. A displaced section snags anything moving through it and will keep doing so until the pipe is repaired or lined.
The way to tell these apart is a camera inspection. It converts a recurring expense into a decision you can make once.
