Plumber servicing a toilet tank and fill valve in a clean bathroom

Problems we fix

  • Toilets that keep running long after the flush
  • Water on the floor around the base, which often means a failed wax seal
  • Clogged toilets and repeat blockages
  • Weak or incomplete flushing
  • Overflowing bowls
  • Broken or noisy fill valves
  • Worn flappers and flush valve seals
  • Loose or rocking toilets
  • Leaking tank-to-bowl bolts and gaskets
  • Water supply line and shut-off valve problems

Why a toilet keeps running

The usual cause is a flapper that no longer seals. Rubber hardens and warps over time, water trickles from the tank into the bowl, and the fill valve keeps topping the tank back up. A running toilet can waste a remarkable amount of water in a month without ever making an obvious mess.

Other causes include a fill valve set too high so water spills into the overflow tube, a float that no longer shuts off, or a chain caught under the flapper. Most are inexpensive parts — the value is in identifying the right one rather than replacing everything.

Weak flushing and repeat clogs

If a toilet has become sluggish over years, mineral scale has usually blocked the small rim jets and siphon jet, cutting the water speed that carries waste out. Cleaning or descaling those passages often restores the flush.

If a toilet clogs regularly despite normal use, look further down the line. A partial blockage in the branch drain or main drain will show up first at the toilet because it moves the most solids. Wipes, paper towel and hygiene products are the most common culprits in Brampton homes.

Toilet installation

When repair is no longer sensible — a cracked bowl or tank, an ancient high-volume model, or a fixture that has been rebuilt too many times — we install a replacement, reset the flange as needed, fit a new wax or foam seal, secure the unit properly and test for leaks at the supply and base.

Comfort-height and dual-flush options are worth discussing during a bathroom refresh.

Toilet Repair FAQs

Why is my toilet constantly running?

Most often a worn flapper letting water leak from tank to bowl, or a fill valve that is set too high or failing to shut off. Both are common repairs.

Is water around the base of the toilet serious?

It can be. A failed wax seal lets water and waste escape under the fixture and reach the subfloor. It is worth addressing quickly.

Can a plunger make a clog worse?

A plunger is fine for a simple bowl clog. If plunging does nothing or other fixtures react, stop — the blockage is likely further down the drain and needs a proper clearing.
